Ah~… The joy of binging on a good anime throughout the whole night. As I’m writing this, it is 5 in the morning. I’m dizzy and I feel so damn destroyed (in a good way). But I’ve kinda reached that peace of mind you reach when you’ve barely slept for at least 2 days. So here I go!

Magic Kyun! Renaissance is an anime about a girl who enters a magical artistic school and gets into a special comity to organize some kind of festival.
I have so many mixed feelings about this anime. On one hand, it’s one of the rare reverse harem we’ve seen so far. On the other, it could have been so much more… *Insert a cry of desperation*
Now, visually, it’s pretty decent except sometimes, it can get a little weird. Some use of the 3D kinda broke the magic for me… get it? Because they used the 3D as a magical effect… No? Okay, I’m leaving… Don’t mind me… (To be fair, it’s 1:30 pm and I’m sooo fuzzy…)

Serial Experiments Lain is a 1998 anime that will screw your perception of reality.
First of all, I have to say, I loved this anime but IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. There is very serious themes sprinkled all over this anime and it is very heavy. If you are looking for something light and easy to understand, then this is not the thing for you.
I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t talk about it so much. It’s really an experience you should have for yourself.
Serial Experiements Lain is about Lain, a young girl that is trying to figure out who she is and what she represent for the world surrounding her (that’s my interpretation of it but you might have a different take on it) All the while, she is confronted by the reality of her much dystopian world and the Wired, some kind of internet that connects everyone.
At first, I thought I wouldn’t like the art style but I was wrong. The style convey so much more than you could ever think of.
Story wise, it can be really hard to understand and a lot of it is just interpretation. Everything from the sound design to the art style is there for a reason so if you want to experience it to the fullest, you must pay attention to EVERYTHING. And when I say everything, I mean even the absence of sound means something.
Serial Experiments Lain was a very unique experience to me. I’m someone that’s almost always connected and this made me rethink things for a bit. I might even rewatch it to see all the things I missed. I really enjoyed it. (in the wtf way)
What about you, did you watch this anime and did you like it? Hate it? And most importantly, why?
I hurt my arm but it’s getting better so here is a quick review. It has been some times, I’m sorry, life has a strange flow sometimes… here we go:
Boku dake ga Inai Machi, also called Erased, is an anime that got out not so long ago. It is based on the manga of the same name. It’s the story of a guy that has a weird power that can send him back in time to change the past (it’s more complicated than that but whatever).
I must say this anime was incredibly good even though some elements of the plot didn’t make much sense to me. (how does revival works, it doesn’t seem to have a real rule to it…)
Art wise, this anime was really beautiful. Nothing to had here.
Plot wise, like I said, some things didn’t make sense to me but that might be because I’m picky. Other than that it was amazing. I loved every bit of it. The ending was amazing, the plot twist were really good but I must say, I think the identity of the bad guy was obvious at some point. At first I thought they wanted us to think it was that person but as it turns out, it really was that person… I make no sense but I don’t want to spoil so don’t question me!
Overall, Boku dake ga Inai Machi was really good and I recommend it. If you like that kind of mystery supernatural stuff you will be served. I might consider reading the manga to tell you more about it.
Okay, that’s it. My fingers and arm hurts now so I’ll be going. I’ll try to update again soon!
I said I would write a quick review as soon as I’m done with school and here it is. The problem is that I haven’t watched many anime lately… But hey! Found something lying about gathering dust deep inside my brain. So here it is !
Bonjour Sweet Love Patisserie is a short 24 episode anime. I say short because each episode must be something like 3 minutes if you take away the opening. It’s about a girl that gets a place in a kind of baking school and her hot teachers are young and all over her…
So there’s 4 guys if I remember right. 3 teachers and a classmate. One is a chocolate guy, one is a french dude and one does Japaneses sweets… The other’s just a classmate…
The story is pretty light and it’s really fun to watch in a row. It’s not very time consuming and it won’t use a lot of your brain. The guys are cute, the main character shouldn’t make you cringe. The mascot is freaking weird though….
The art is pretty interesting but be ready for the reuse of the freaking same shot before each of them make sweets… If it sounds stupid to you, well it looks ten times as stupid when you watch it. Basically it’s like a “I am charging my power” in shounen anime but for sweets? And it is obviously used as a filler -.-‘
So yeah, overall, if you want to watch something lighthearted and girly with hot guys and sweets then just go ahead! Don’t expect a lot of development though because the episode are so short there’s not much space for that.
This is going to be fast. Gakkou Gurashi! is an amazing anime that is really really hard not to spoil so I’m going to be quite vague about this.
Basically, Gakkou Gurashi! is tagged as horror and drama but I would tag it as dark themed drama as it is bloody but not gory and not scary. The story is amazing and the reveal will make you fall from your chair. The story is very good and interesting. Visually, this anime is great.
If you want to watch an amazing dark themed anime then go ahead but I have to say the first episode is a really big lie. If you find yourself asking why you are watching this and wondering where is the dark theme, you’ll need to go trough the first episode to find it 😉
It is finally here !! Yes it means I have read the whole thing. Onward!!
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is a romance anime based on the manga of the same name. It is a very strange story about a boy that falls for a girl (well, he’s not sure though…).
Story wise it was good. The anime is mostly the same as the manga (I mean up until chapter 17 anyway). The characters are nice and lovable. (The anime is kinda far away, so if I miss something don’t hesitate to comment on this)
Artistically speaking, this anime is okay but it’s not anything out of the ordinary, it’s still pretty though.
now to the thing that I didn’t like about this anime:
First of, the poo jokes. In the anime, there is this rooster that is always there and they used it for poo jokes…. really…. poo jokes…. wow. This made me cringe a lot. This character is present and important in the manga but not as present and, or course, there is no poo jokes -_-‘
The second thing that I didn’t like was the ending. (I’m not sure if I’m satisfied with the manga ending but it’s still 10x better than the anime one…) Like I had said in one of my updates, this anime has a ”Go read the manga” type of ending. The kind that makes me want to destroy something… And what a ”go read the manga” ending that is. They tried to make a gathering of all the characters with a shit reason, it made me quite mad. I was thinking what the hell is going on until the end.
So here is the conclusion: read the manga if you can. If you are a lazy potato or you just want to see how it is without reading, go on ahead and watch the anime but be prepared for the ending. I loved this anime. The romance was quite nice and special (But I would go to Yamaken anytime o3o ) But of course, I would read the manga instead.
Because of my really tight schedule, I’ll be doing quick reviews instead of full reviews. They will be less complete but at least I post something :
Mekakucity Actors is an anime about kids with some kind of powers.
What’s good about it: The story is really good. I loved it even though I wondered what was going on for the whole anime. The characters were interesting.
Visually, this anime is AWESOME. It is candy for the eyes, it’s a mind blowing, colorful, simple yet complex visual. The setting of the city is just incredible. Even though you don’t understand the story or you’re not interested, this anime is worth it only for the art style.
Now what’s bad about it: I don’t have a lot to say on what’s bad. That you love it or not, anime where you don’t understand anything until the end is a genre or sub-genre. It has been used in movies as well. I just loved to try to understand until the end. This can be a negative side to the anime but I think this just adds to it.
In conclusion, go watch Mekakucity Actors if you haven’t yet. And if you saw it and did not like it I would like to know why ;P
Itazura na Kiss is a shoujo romance telling the story of a girl that has loved a boy for a long time but when she try to confess with a love letter, the guy she likes turn her down coldly.
Itazura na Kiss, as a shoujo romance, actually fail quite a lot BUT the character development is strong with this one. To me, the story was just downright frustrating. It wasn’t “I quit watching” bad, but it was bad as a romance. The story is pretty fast paced after a while and it actually depict a story going on for over 7 years (and even more). You get to see a big chunk of the character’s life. It end up turning around adult life instead of some high school love triangle and that’s what got me staying for a little longer.
For the art style… It’s bad. But not too bad, maybe 6/10 bad. I’m not that big a fan of that kind of style but the man’s faces are broken… really! The colors are kinda flat, it’s a boring style.
Overall, Itazura na kiss isn’t the greatest shoujo I ever watched but it isn’t the worst either. If you love character development, you can always give it a try but if you are looking for an anime that’ll make you go doki doki, don’t watch this one. Also, I would say this might be more interesting for older girls as the story goes fast and it’s more about university and the working life of two young adults.
On that, here’s the rating:
Story : 5/10
Character development : 8/10
Art style: 6/10
